This month has been both difficult and inspiring. As mentioned on the Christina Burton Artist Website, I lost my grandmother, who was my hero. Her absence has left a significant void, and grieving is a challenging process. In this heavy time, I turned to my 7 Fold art collection to connect spiritually and honor her memory. The stillness I feel now is allowing the more profound aspects of grief and healing to unfold.
Navigating family responsibilities during this holiday season has been another layer of complexity. My art will now unfold at a measured pace. I completed 28 pieces for the 7 Fold collection over approximately seven months. The number seven is a meaningful symbol in my journey. Achieving 28 pieces aligns with the common belief that a solid collection typically consists of around 25 to 30 works. I am proud to have reached this milestone.
Now that I’ve built this foundation, I need to adjust my rhythm to fit my life. Balancing a full-time job in the social sector from 9 AM to 5 PM with my art practice, which often stretches from 9 PM to 2 AM, has been quite a juggle. To safeguard my well-being during this grieving period, I will embrace a slower artistic pace. Creating with God is both healing and fulfilling, but prioritizing my mental health is crucial.
Despite the emotional landscape I’m navigating, I’m looking forward to sharing exciting news. Two new art pieces will debut this holiday season, and I have a special project planned for launch around Easter 2026. I can’t wait to provide sneak peeks and samples of these upcoming creations over the next few months.
Reflecting on my journey, I see that finding balance in art and life during grief is a nuanced process that takes time and kindness to oneself. Grief is not straightforward; it comprises highs and lows, clarity, and confusion. Art has always been a refuge for me—a way to voice my emotions and connect with something larger than myself.
Art serves as a powerful tool for healing. It helps us process emotions, honor our loved ones, and find peace in creation’s beauty. Whether through painting, writing, or any other creative form, we can channel our grief into something impactful. Throughout this month, creating has been a source of comfort even as I confront the complexities of loss.
As we move forward, I invite you to explore your own creative paths, especially during tough times. You could be an artist or a writer, or simply someone who finds joy in expressing themselves through various means. Remember, your creativity is a precious gift. It can heal, connect us with others, and help us honor our individual journeys.
Thank you for your ongoing support and for being part of this community during this time of reflection and healing. Your presence is invaluable to me, especially now. I look forward to sharing more of my artistic journey in the months ahead. Together, let us embrace creativity's beauty and its potential to heal and inspire.
Until next time, God bless, and enjoy your creative journey ahead! Christina Burton- C.B.
